“GALUT”
1-OF-1 COVER ARTWORK
Galut (Hebrew: גלות) means exile. In Jewish tradition it is both the historical diaspora and the ongoing spiritual condition of being away from home — not only geographically, but existentially. The word carries the weight of living inside a language, a name, and a set of rituals that still feel slightly borrowed.
I still say the words like they belong to me
Wrap the black leather around my arm
But the room feels rented
And the silence answers first
I light the candles out of habit, not belief
Watch the flame lean away from me
Every blessing tastes like someone else's mouth
I'm still here. I'm not home.
Galut
I'm a stranger at the table
Galut
I wear the name but not the weight
Galut
Every road I walk feels borrowed
And the map was written in a language I only pretend to read
I stand when they stand
I bow when they bow
But my body moves like it's apologizing
For taking up the space
Galut
I'm a stranger at the table
Galut
I wear the name but not the weight
Galut
Every road I walk feels borrowed
And the map was written in a language I only pretend to read
Galut
Galut
Sung throughout — with a long clarinet solo before the outro
INTRO — SOFT RIFF & DISTANT CLARINET · VERSE 1 · CHORUS — GALUT ×3 · VERSE 2 · CHORUS — REPEATED · CLARINET SOLO · OUTRO — GALUT (STILL SAYING THE WORDS / STILL NOT HOME)
Alternative rock, soft swinging riff, distant clarinet. A song about exile — historical diaspora and the spiritual condition of being away from home; the name worn but not the weight, the map in a language only pretended to read; clarinet solo before a fading outro.
