IN THE STORY

Caviar for the dog. A bite for the prince.

The heroes are in the middle of a serious discussion when distant barking grows louder and closer. Olga enters the throne room holding a cracker topped with black caviar. Mikhail complains that the dog eats better than he does. When he reaches to pet it, the tiny Maltese nips his fingers. Olga has the last word: “He knows a weak ruler when he bites one.”

THE CHARACTER BEHIND THE NAME

Our Olga, not Saint Olga.

This Olga belongs only to the court of Golden Gates. She is a younger, luxury-minded presence who married into power and intends to enjoy it. She is not the historical Saint Olga of Kyiv. Her sharp eye for the prince’s wounded dignity, her refusal to take the throne room seriously, and her completely spoiled Maltese are the show’s own creation. She lives in a parallel royal world of beautiful clothes, diamonds, and the perfect little outfit for her dog. The serious men can discuss invasion and monsters; she has already decided what matters.

THEIR WORLD

Close enough to the throne to puncture it.

The men talk about danger beyond the gates. Olga arrives with a smaller, more personal disturbance and lets Mikhail supply the reaction. Her Maltese is tiny, perfectly dressed, fed the best food in the palace, and thoroughly unimpressed by royal authority. The dog does not improve with training. The dog does not care who you are.
